Our lecturers in medicine, medical informatics, computer science, mathematics and business information technology work together as an agile project team, pooling their expertise to take an interdisciplinary approach to the challenges presented to them.

Institutional partners
Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH)
The Institute for Medical Informatics at BFH and the Prevention and Public Health Services Directorate at the Federal Office of Public Health work together on projects aimed at developing solutions that facilitate the roll-out of eHealth in Switzerland.
eHealth Suisse (Federal and Cantonal eHealth Coordinating Body)
Over several years, the Federal and Cantonal eHealth Coordinating Body eHealth Suisse and the Institute for Medical Informatics at BFH have implemented many projects together. The Institute for Medical Informatics is the evaluation office for eHealth implementation projects in Switzerland; the results are published on the project platform administered by eHealth Suisse.
Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts
A cornerstone of the collaboration between the Institute for Medical Informatics at BFH and the Medical Informatics research focus at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts is the joint development of a central terminology server for eHealth Suisse.
University of Erlangen
There is a cooperation agreement between the Institute for Medical Informatics at BFH and the Institute of Medical Informatics at the University of Erlangen.
Spitalzentrum Biel AG
The strategic cooperation between the Institute for Medical Informatics at BFH and Spitalzentrum Biel (SZB) has been in place since 2013. The SZB sponsors the Prix d’Excellence for Medical Informatics.
Industry partners
Our industry partners cooperate closely with our students on projects and bachelor’s theses. Our ‘Living Lab’ medical informatics laboratory relies on collaboration with our partners, who provide their products for research and education.
