Arriving by car

Take the Bern-Bethlehem exit from the A1 motorway, and drive via Neue Murtenstrasse, Murtenstrasse and Bümplizstrasse to Schwabstrasse.
There are no long-stay parking spaces at the Schwabstrasse 10 location. Please use the parking spaces at the Fellerstrasse 11 location. For deliveries, there is sufficient space directly in front of the building.

Facilities

MA CAP main building

The MA CAP main building is located at Schwabstrasse 10. Spread over four floors (accessible via lift), the building features bright studio and seminar rooms, exhibition spaces and an analogue photo lab, plus a kitchen and large rooftop terrace.

The open atmosphere of Schwabstrasse is complemented by the work and production capabilities of the other HKB locations:

Fellerstrasse location

Just a stone’s throw away, at Fellerstrasse 11, are the printing studio, the MediaLab, the Multimedia Library and the workshop. They are all service centres in which experts are on hand to provide assistance and answer any questions. The printing studio has a fully equipped workspace, in which all manual printing techniques are practised. Audiovisual design and photography are at he heart of the MediaLab. Here, students have access to workspaces, cutting rooms and various studios as well as the necessary equipment. The Multimedia Library is home to a comprehensive selection of books, magazines and films related to the areas of design, art and transdisciplinarity. The workshop offers professional facilities for working with wood, metal, synthetics, ceramics and textiles. There is also the MaterialPool, an extensive collection of samples of a wide variety of materials.

Kaserne location

On the Sound Arts programme, students have the opportunity to use the sound studio of the HKB Music division at Papiermühlestrasse 13 for their own projects. The sound studio features state-of-the-art equipment with a spacious control room, and analogue and digital networking options in other multifunctional rooms. The facility can handle even the most demanding sound productions. Also located at Papiermühlestrasse is the Music Library.

Swiss Literature Institute Biel/Bienne

The Literary Writing/Translation programmes maintain close ties with the Swiss Literature Institute Biel/Bienne. The library there is also open to CAP students.

PROGR Center for Cultural Practice

MA CAP also has studio space and a seminar room in the PROGR Centre for Cultural Practice, in the centre of Bern, and thus a centrally located facility that fosters contact with the local arts community.
