Artistic Self-Conceptions
This research field at the Institute for Practices and Theories in the Arts (IPTK) reveals in particular changing strategies of artistic self-conceptions as well as self-ascriptions from the outside.
Aesthetic strategies and performative practices are the focus of attention. Self-representations generated across different media are explored and critically examined.
The projects bring to light artistic self-images, both in a historical retrospective and against the background of post-modern conceptions of identity. They operate at the interface between the humanities and social sciences and artistic research.
