Education for sustainable development
In its guiding principles and strategy, BFH has committed itself to assuming its responsibility as a driving force in responding to complex social issues.
Teaching is a core mission of the BFH. It is application-oriented and science-based and pursues the goal of a high level of professional and operational competence. BFH offers a wide range of degree programmes. Many degree programmes can be completed in both full-time and part-time mode.
BFH graduates often take on responsible roles in the private sector, administration, civil society or applied research. In these positions at the interface between theory and practice, they can make a significant contribution to the urgently needed social and economic transformation towards more sustainable development.
The prerequisite for this is high quality teaching, the teaching of sustainability-relevant skills and equal opportunities. Without these prerequisites, there is a danger that BFH graduates will be insufficiently qualified to actively contribute to sustainable development in their future professional fields and may even reinforce developments that contradict the principle of sustainability.
