As a experienced manager, you are the right person for this work-study course in leadership. The course will build on your current leadership experience and make the most out of your potential.

Enthusiastic and challenging. The CAS Advanced Leadership deepens your knowledge in key areas of leadership. It takes you to the next rung of the leadership ladder. You will benefit from individual coaching sessions our Development Centre, a leadership case simulation and a live case  in our "Leadership in Change" module. You will also have ample opportunity to network with peers as part of this course designed to fit around your work schedule  . All this will give you the opportunity to integrate your new found knowledge and experience into your job.

You must attend at least 90% of the classes, write a transfer report and make a presentation. You will be required to participate in the Development Centre, Leadership Case Simulation and the "Leadership in Change" module. In the transfer report, you must demonstrate that you are able to put what you have learned in the CAS programme into practice. The third assessment is the presentation. In this assessment you will be given three situations, your task is to present to a panel of experts how you would deal with each case.

Qualification + Title

Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) of the Bern University of Applied Sciences in "Advanced Leadership " (12 ECTS credits)

Lecturers

Our lecturers are proven experts with extensive practical and theoretical knowledge in their subject areas. They have at least a university degree plus many years of experience in higher education. 

Requirements + admission

Have you been leading people in projects or companies for several years? Have you already completed some other kind of leadership training or self-assessment? Do you want to reflect on your leadership skills, learn new approaches and broaden your horizon? This programme is designed for experienced managers.

University degree

You will be admitted to the programme with a degree from a university, university of applied sciences, university of teacher education, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, or an equivalent foreign university and at least two years of professional experience.

Higher vocational training

If you have a qualification from a higher vocational education institution (Diploma Höhere Fachschule HF, Federal Diploma, Federal Certificate of Proficiency) and several years of professional experience, you will also be admitted to the programme. However, you will be required to attend our Introduction to Academic Study before starting the CAS. Completion of this module is a prerequisite for admission to the CAS.

Exceptions

In exceptional circumstances applicants may still  be admitted. The head of the degree programme will make a decision based upon your application and extenuating circumstances. Please contact us. If you are admitted, you will in any case attend the course «Introduction to Academic Writing» (in German) before the first CAS.

Language skills

German

For all students of our CAS programmes we offer a half-day course Effective Learning. Attendance is recommended and is free of charge for CAS students. At this event, you will learn about the practice-oriented learning style used at universities of applied science.

Organisation + Registration

The duration of the programme is 21 study days, development coaching sessions are arranged individually. Classes take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 08.30 - 16.00, approximately once a month. The maximum number of participants is 24.

Organisational aspects of the CAS

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, from 08.30 - 16.00 hrs, approximately once a month.

The registration deadline for the programme is 6 weeks before the start. Demand for the programme is always high, so we recommend that you register early. If places are available, it is also possible to register later.
