Biography
- Katharina Blankart is a Professor of Health Economics at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Department of Health. She is affiliated with the Hamburg Center for Health Economics at the University of Hamburg and the Leibniz Science Campus Ruhr in Essen, Germany.
As the head of the Institute for Health Economics and Health Policy, she conducts efficiency analyses in the healthcare system and oversees the evaluation of new health technologies and care models. She also focuses on regulatory frameworks and their impact on innovations in healthcare. Her goal is to provide evidence-based support to health policy and decision-makers in Switzerland and beyond.
Katharina Blankart studied Economics and Business Research at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and received her Ph.D. in Health Economics and Healthcare Management in 2012. Between 2012 and 2016, she was a post-doc at the University of Hamburg and Columbia University. From 2016 to 2023, she was an Assistant Professor of Empirical Health Economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen and a core member of the CINCH national health economics research center. She is currently a member of the extended board of the German Society for Health Economics.
