Acquire modern methods. Refine your technique. Manage complex projects flexibly. As a project manager or sponsor you understand more than the basics of project management, you have experience in planning and control.

Following this course, you will be able to lead your project team through stormy times and deal confidently with critical questions from stakeholders. You will be able to deal with crisis situations and overcome resistance from unconvinced stakeholders or project teams.

You will be able to balance interests, resolve conflicts, acquire and integrate new knowledge and be prepared to lead and motivate teams in an agile and effective way.

This work-study programme in project management will challenge you to become a better project manager. You will master the key methods and practices to successfully manage a project in all phases, to achieve common goals together with all participants and create value for your organisation.

Course objectives

In our CAS Advanced Project Management you will deal with the current challenges of managing and leading demanding projects. Upon completion of this programme you will be better equipped to do all of the following:

  • Design attractive team roles and tasks
  • Understand and manage projects as flexible, temporary organisations 
  • Support knowledge management in operational processes
  • Generate and integrate new knowledge

This CAS makes you better at managing challenging projects. We provide you with a stimulating and motivating learning environment in which you can learn new things and actively use your professional skills and experience.

The methodology may vary depending on the module.

The proof of competence is regulated in the respective specialised course.

Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) of the Bern University of Applied Sciences in «Advanced Project Management»

Lecturers

Our lecturers are proven experts with extensive practical and theoretical knowledge in their subject areas. They have at least a university degree plus many years of experience in higher education. 

Requirements + admission

The CAS Advanced Project Management is aimed at project managers and clients who want to improve their competence in managing challenging projects.

University degree

You will be admitted to the programme with a degree from a university, university of applied sciences, university of teacher education, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, or an equivalent foreign university and at least two years of professional experience.

Higher vocational training

If you have a qualification from a higher vocational education institution (Diploma Höhere Fachschule HF, Federal Diploma, Federal Certificate of Proficiency) and several years of professional experience, you will also be admitted to the programme. However, you will be required to attend our Introduction to Academic Study before starting the CAS. Completion of this module is a prerequisite for admission to the CAS.

Exceptions

In exceptional circumstances applicants may still  be admitted. The head of the degree programme will make a decision based upon your application and extenuating circumstances. Please contact us. If you are admitted, you will in any case attend the course «Introduction to Academic Writing» (in German) before the first CAS.

If you only wish to take part in one of the specialised modules, you do not have to meet any admission requirements. Information on this can be found in the subject course.

Knowledge & skills

You should have experience as a project manager or sponsor. Your professional position offers scope for personal development and implementing new ideas. You are willing to bring challenges from your practical experience into the classroom.

Please document your project experience in your CV when applying for the programme.

For all students of our CAS programmes we offer a half-day course Effective Learning. Attendance is recommended and is free of charge for CAS students. At this event, you will learn about the practice-oriented learning style used at universities of applied science.

Organisation + Registration

There are 17-20 teaching days in the three specialised modules. The teaching days are Tuesday and Wednesday. The maximum number of participants is 15.

Please upload these documents even if you have already submitted them for another application. 

Due to the increased admission requirements for this CAS, we ask you to document your project experience in your CV.

The timetable is published six months before the start of the programme.

The registration deadline is always 6 weeks before the start. If places are available, later registration is possible.

CHF 8,500 (for all three modules)
