Situation

Photovoltaic technology is developing rapidly. Information on the state of the art is valuable for the industry. Eturnity AG develops and distributes a tool that is used to generate several tens of thousands of quotations for PV systems in Switzerland every year. Together with the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), Eturnity AG would like to make this data available to the industry. A technology report with the development of various parameters such as module efficiency, module size, market shares, etc. is generated periodically from Eturnity AG's rapidly growing database.

Course of action

The analyses are based on the anonymised and consolidated database of Eturity AG. Products such as modules and inverters as well as system information are analysed in detail. A weighted method is used for the evaluation, in which the use of the relevant components in project designs is taken into account. This weighting makes it possible, for example, to precisely calculate the average efficiency of the modules on offer. All parameters are presented transparently and comparably both for Switzerland and for the EU as a whole.

Result

The result is a comprehensive report detailing the development of numerous relevant parameters in the PV industry. It makes visible trends recognisable and shows how the industry has changed in recent years. The report also provides valuable insights into the components and technologies that are currently most frequently installed

Looking ahead

In future, the report will be produced annually and will always be based on the latest available data. Year after year, it will provide a precise overview of the development of the PV industry and enable well-founded insights into new trends, technological advances and market changes. It therefore serves as a valuable tool for fact-based analyses and strategic decision-making.
