Ophthalmic medical image analysis, in particular the development of hybrid Deep Learning-based segmentation algorithms for the 3D reconstruction of the blood vessels network in OCT-Angiography.

Natural language processing for implementation of Artificial Intelligence Chatbot in Optimizing Customer Service for the optimization of administrative processes in companies, e.g. information preparation, mediation and processing.

Research Project at the BFH (!!!) “Automated 3D reconstruction and analysis of retinal vessel trees of healthy and diseased eyes in optical coherence tomography angiography using machine learning and artificial intelligence”, a cooperation with numerous completed, ongoing and planned followup project between the University of Applied Sciences of Biel (project center for AI and ML), the Berner Augenklinik AG (clinical partner) and the Swiss Eye Institute AG (research partner). The co-investigators from these institutions are Dr. med. Christof Hänsli and Prof. Dr. med. Justus G. Garweg.

PhD Research Project: SNSF Project 320030-146021 “Characterisation of choroidal changes in children and its temporal response to optical defocus”, an international cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences of Biel (project center), the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Basel (academic supervision), Department of Ophthalmology (clinical support), Guangzhou and Hong Kong (clinical partners). The persons responsible are Prof. Christoph Meier (head of the HuCE-OptoLab of the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Biel) and the principal investigator Dr. Boris Považay.
